My Friend Macca
Peter has been one of my close mates  for years, we both grew up in the same county town Grafton
Back sometime in the 1980's my sister Margi and I rang Macca to say we were off to Bali and Singapore on holidays, his reaction was " I want to come too, book me a ticket".  This was to be his first overseas trip, and that was the start of a new life for Macca. The travel bug got him and off around the world he went to persue his dreams and find his place in the world. Something we all strive for and hopefully we find. He arrived in India and found his place in the world helping children from poor farming communities up in the hills somewhere. To keep himself financial, Macca tripped off to Thailand to teach English for a few months before returning to India to help the kids.
Just before Christmas 2007 Macca returned to Australia to set up a trust fund and raise the money to build the kids a school. I was astounded to learn that  $73.00 a year that's .20 cents a day would educate one little child. Just $2.00 would educate a child for 10 days. So this page is dedicated to my mate Macca  who is now Teacher Guide Peter!! And help him in his cause to help the kids. You can check out his web site or copy the bank details from this page and if you feel like giving a few dollars or make it a family or school project to educate a child for a year, that would be perfect.  At least I know all the donations will go to Macca's cause and not be taken in administration fees. He still travels off to teach English to raise funds for personal use, the community of the village is in control of the building of the school.

Sure is different to our school rooms

These children may not have a fancy school, but they sure have happy faces

Guess which one is my friend Macca  or should I say  Mr Peter

his web site is called

Oz Guiding Hands ~ assisting school children in rural India

AUD  20 cents  a day will educate a child at Little Paradise Academy

Update January 2011 ~  The Beginning

Well after all this time, hard work and generous donations the school is going to be built this year ~ how wonderful for the children.

This is an update from Macca's Web Site

Demolition of the old school started recently and things are progressing according to plan. It won't be long before we see some foundations and a building will emerge over the winter break! The plan is to have a usable building by the time school starts again next March.... With more to come as we raise extra funds. The locals are very excited & extremely grateful.

On the 19th November a puja (ceremony) for the laying of the first stone for the new school building, the Puja was performed by a Hindu priest and a Buddhist Lama.
A list of all the donaters names was blessed and placed in with the first stone along with copper/silver and Oz coins, a special day.
Blessings to all who have helped on ths wonderful project
